L’ACTA rappresenta una minaccia per le libertà fondamentali, la neutralità della rete, l’innovazione e l’accesso libero alle tecnologie e alle medicine essenziali. Il Parlamento Europeo possiede tutte le prove necessarie per rifiutare questo accordo; rimandare il voto finale sulla decisione sarebbe visto come una fuga dalla responsabilità politica.
Giovedì 21 giugno, i membri della Commissione per il Commercio Internazionale del Parlamento Europeo (INTA) presenteranno la loro raccomandazione finale al resto dei parlamentari.
Fino ad ora tutte le commissioni si sono pronunciate rifiutando l’accordo. E’ necessario che anche i membri dell’INTA lo facciano e votino contro l’ adozione dell’ACTA o contro una proroga del voto finale. Ritardare il voto sarebbe uno stratagemma illusorio spinto per settimane dalla Commissione Europea e dalle lobby per salvare la faccia.
Membri del Parlamento europeo devono assumersi la responsabilità politica e tutelare i cittadini di fronte a questo pericoloso accordo. E’ assolutamente urgente rifiutare la logica repressiva dell’ACTA e attuare una policy di distinzione fondamentale tra reale contraffazione dannosa delle merci e le pratiche condivise che sono le fondamenta della nostra cultura e di una società migliore.
