Vasco Esteves

He left Portugal for Germany in 1969 as a political refugee. In Portugal he was a student leader and in Germany he fought for the rights and organisation of Portuguese immigrants and supported the Carnation Revolution in Portugal. With a degree in mathematics, he worked in Germany for 30 years in the information technology sector. He currently lives in Berlin as an actor and journalist. He is regarded as a historical witness, particularly of the 60s and 70s, both to the resistance against fascism in Portugal and to the first generation of Portuguese immigrants to the Federal Republic of Germany.
