MIR Italia - Movimento Internazionale della Riconciliazione

Il M.I.R. (Movimento Internazionale della Riconciliazione), branca italiana dell’IFOR (International Fellowship Of Reconciliation), è un movimento ecumenico per la pace, trapiantato in Italia nel 1952 grazie a esponenti valdesi e quaccheri, al quale hanno presto aderito persone di religione cattolica e di varie fedi religiose e laiche. I membri del MIR, sull’esempio di tanti maestri e testimoni di pace, si impegnano a praticare la nonviolenza attiva come stile di vita e come via alla pace: quindi nonviolenza, come amore, nelle relazioni con il prossimo e nei confronti della Terra sulla quale viviamo. Il MIR è tra i fondatori della Rete Italiana Pace e Disarmo e collabora con tante organizzazioni nella campagne per il disarmo, per la riduzione delle spese militari, per la riconciliazione e la pace nella giustizia nei paesi in guerra e dominati da regimi oppressivi, per l’accoglienza dei profughi, per l’educazione alla pace, per l’obiezione di coscienza al servizio militare e al lavoro militare, per la difesa civile non armata, per il controllo del commercio delle armi.
