Catherine Maia

Catherine Maia is a professor of International Law at Lusófona University – Porto and Lisbon University Centres (Portugal) and a visiting professor at several other institutions, including Sciences Po Paris and the Catholic University of Lyon (France). She also serves as an assessor judge, appointed by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, at the French National Court of Asylum. As a legal consultant, she has undertaken various missions for international organisations, diplomatic missions, and law firms. Her areas of expertise include human rights protection, international criminal law, international humanitarian law, and issues of global peace and security.
