On Saturday February 8, 2014, the Humanist Party Iqique (HPI) members attended a meeting convened by Luis Espinoza, leader of Workers Inter Iquique which also included representatives of Equal (PI), Progressive (PRO) and the Green Ecologists who were in affiliation with the HPI.

“The objective of this meeting was to exchange and see the feasibility of forming a political and social entity converged on common views on how to move forward on a regional proposal that can be projected the next election,” commented Humanist Party Iqique member Ramón Silva.

One of the reflections was focused on creating an alternative stance opposing the current system and neoliberal model. In short, the focus of the conversation was how to face this new political scenario and how to working as we go about building a foundation for a new way of doing politics.

“Another reflection that emerged at the meeting was to have a decentralized approach and to work with strong reciprocation to be able to move forward and achieve good results in future elections, as a joint effort with the people and communities in our region,” Ramón Silva continued.

“We also talked briefly about the results of the recent elections, noting that alone, we cannot continue developing this great alternative that is required to reach political and social maturity, since the numbers tell us that if we had gone together would have obtained much better results, with representation in parliament and districts.”

Noted:
1) Aim to meet every Saturday at 11:00 hrs.
2) Hold joint activities on topics social and conflicts where we can support and enhance the communities in the Region of Tarapaca
3) Jointly celebrate important dates and anniversaries such as Women’s Day, Labour Day, etc..
4) In the next meeting a deeper analysis of past elections to be done.
