Pope Benedict XVI will receive members of the World March for Peace and Nonviolence base team in the Vatican. The Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church will greet members of the March in a general audience that will be celebrated during the morning of the coming 11th of November.
This confirmation has come through a letter from the “Pontificio Collegio Justicia et Pax”, that received the request for a meeting through Cardinal Martino. The international campaign for peace and nuclear disarmament already counts on the endorsements of representatives of various religions, for example the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, head of the world’s Anglicans, Desmond Tutu (South Africa) and the chief Imam of Guinea, Hadj Ibrahima Bah, Ashin Sopaka (Burma), among others.
Before meeting with the Pontiff, the delegation of the World March will have already travelled through countries in Oceania, Asia and Europe. The World March base team will set off on the 2nd of October in Wellington, New Zealand to travel through more than 100 countries on five continents.
The March will end on the 2nd of January in the foothills of Mount Aconcagua, in Punta de Vacas Park on the border between Argentina and Chile.
