REPUDIATION FOR THE ATTEMPTED ASSASSINATION OF THE PRESIDENT OF VENEZUELA
We categorically repudiate the assassination attempt that took place in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela against its president on Saturday, August 4, 2018. We also reject the deaths of Venezuelan and Nicaraguan citizens on our continent.
Violence is not the way, but the sad route to a spiral of resentment and revenge that we do not want in Venezuela, in South America, in Nicaragua, or anywhere else in the world.
While Nicaragua is suffering from a terrible civil war, the war drums resound again with the Colombian brothers in the context of a historic conflict that needs to be resolved, where we call for peace to prevail, and where the process promoted by the Venezuelan State has allowed the demobilization of the FARC (Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia), a truncated process that must continue with the demobilisation of all the guerrilla and paramilitary groups instead of the absurd alienation of Colombia as an appendix to NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) in the framework of warmongering interests alien to the desire for peace and integration of our America.
There is no way to peace, peace is the way.
Coordinating Team of the “First South American March for Peace and Nonviolence”.
