The national strike on Wednesday and Thursday, called by the United Labour Federation (CUT) on May 1st, will demand the abolition of the Constitution, which was enforced by the military regime of Augusto Pinochet (1973-1990).
Strikers will also demand a national tax reform that takes into account inequalities, and a plebiscite as a way to solve national issues and to channel the people’s will.
The strike will start on Tuesday evening with a Pot-Banging demonstration, while on Wednesday all labour activities will stop, including public transportation and trade.
According to Union leaders, mass mobilisations will continue on Thursday along the main avenues, parks, and public squares around the country.
