Foreign Ministry spokesmen said that among the thorniest issues is the recognition of Iran’s nuclear technology and the lift of the sanctions imposed by the UN under U.S. pressure.
The second day of talks between Iran and the so called 5 +1 Group (permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) takes place on Saturday at the Ciragan Palace in Istanbul, an Ottoman-era house.
According to Iran Foreign Ministry, talks take place behind closed doors and are chaired by the head of the Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili and Senior Manager of Foreign Policy of the European Union Catherine Ashton.
The third round of talks was also preceded by separate meetings between Jalili and Ashton and representatives from China, Russia and Turkey as host country.
Iran expresses its willingness to engage in dialogue with the G5 +1 with a positive outlook, but it made clear its refusal to discuss peaceful nuclear program, considering that is is only responsibility of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA .)
Iran insisted that UN Security Council has no jurisdiction to consider the matter, however it proposed the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany replace confrontation by cooperation in the Iranian case.
