Within the field of activities parallel to the NPT conference in the UN, World without Wars and Violence has presented a documentary film of the World March for Peace and Nonviolence produced by Spanish filmmaker, Alvaro Orus. Orus was one of the International Base Team members who travelled with the March from New Zealand until Finland and then after participating in his home country of Spain filmed the end of the March in Argentina.
The video which lasts 45 minutes is a dynamic, emotional, diverse and broad synthesis that shows the enormous dimension of the World March with the filmed contributions of many videographers involved in recording the March.
A background of songs contributed by musicians who gave their compositions to the March for free, accompanies the various themes of institutional events, the cultural and ethnic diversity of the countries visited, young people on the March, conflicts visited and experiences of the Base Team members.
The video will be included in the official World March book that is due for publication in June 2010. The book will illustrate the huge work of the March in 400 full colour pages including some 5000 photos.
Anna Polo, from World without Wars in Italy, and one of the principle organisers in Italy who also helped to make the March happen in South Korea and actually took part in the first days in New Zealand, said, *“The video is great. It shows clearly the huge diversity of the March in a way that you didn’t notice as the March developed over the 93 days last year. It’s really a historic achievement.”*
