Criticism of the way in which the mass media treat information is increasingly widespread. This disapproval is by no means unfounded, as commercial and geopolitical interests have twisted the character and meaning of much of the content in circulation, turning it into disinformation.

Violence, in its starkest form or subtly placed between the lines, is the element that characterises the most common modality in numerous articles and images. This news bias not only distorts the perception of reality – which is obviously much broader – but also poisons and dwarfs the human horizon, silencing or placing in the background interesting and necessary efforts for change that could constitute the demonstration effects of a different future, one of solidarity and fraternity between individuals and peoples.

The international news agency Pressenza, since its very birth, has been building a different way of informing, clearly stating its humanist outlook. From this approach, it is launching a training proposal for 2025 with the aim of strengthening the development of news content from a non-violent journalistic approach.

The intention of this workshop, which will take place in two-hour sessions every Saturday in February, is to deepen practices on different types of news in order to exercise a way of broadening the view of the world and leave behind the violent narrative that often hides behind a supposed ‘journalistic objectivity or neutrality’.

Although language issues will be dealt with, the aim is not to get to grips with grammar or writing, but to specifically enable the introduction of a non-violent approach to news reporting.

The workshop is completely free of charge and is aimed at the general public, but is especially aimed at volunteers who have a vocation for building a better world through communication.

In order to allow participation from different parts of the world, the meetings, which will be facilitated in Spanish, will be simultaneously interpreted into English, French and Italian.
