The event was a meaningful tribute to the invaluable contributions of educators in shaping future leaders.
On October 5, 2024, the doctoral students of Baguio Central University (BCU) came together to celebrate World Teachers’ Day, an occasion dedicated to honoring the vital role educators play in shaping society. This global celebration offers an opportunity to express deep gratitude for the tireless dedication, passion, and influence that teachers bring to their profession. By nurturing young minds and lifelong learners, building character, and inspiring future generations, teachers contribute significantly to personal development and community growth. The celebration not only acknowledges their commitment to education but also highlights their influence in shaping future leaders and fostering societal well-being.
As this activity aligns with Indigenous Peoples Education (IPED) Month, attendees wore casual attractions with Cordilleran accents, showcasing their roots and serving as a powerful statement of unity and appreciation for the teachers who have nurtured their cultural identity.
The Graduate School Doctorate Students of BCU proudly showcase their via creativa by designing and decorating the stage, embodying the positive and vibrant spirit of via positiva. Their Cordillera-inspired casual allure adds a cultural touch, beautifully reflecting their heritage while enhancing the celebratory atmosphere.
The creativity of Christina B. Dano and Dealyn M. Balangitan, the lay-out artists, resulted into an eye-catching Invitation Letter that no one can resist. Everybody is invited as every doctorate student has their part in the program.
The event began with a nationalistic song by Esther F. Rizaldo, followed with a heartfelt doxology presented through an Audio-Visual Presentation (AVP) by Pacita Gawaen, Esther Rizaldo, Jhayra Bayacsan, and Cesaria Joy Bay-eng, seeking divine guidance and blessings for the day’s proceedings. This was followed by Jocelyn Mero’s warm welcome, where she expressed gratitude to the attendees for their presence and emphasized the significance of the occasion. She also delivered a remarkable ‘ day-eng ,’ sung in the local dialects of Ibaloi, Kankanaey, and Ifugao .

Dr. Michael de Roxas, a distinguished guest speaker, delivered an inspiring and thought-provoking address. He sincerely congratulated the ‘Class of Current Trends, Problems, and Innovation in Graduate School’ for inviting him to participate in this significant worldwide celebration of educators. His insights on education and community resonated deeply with the audience, offering valuable perspectives and motivation. Dr. De Roxas emphasized Jesus Christ as the greatest teacher of values and compassion, encouraging students to model their lives after His example. Following his talk, Marvin Victoriano led a brief intermission during which attendees relaxed, socialized, exchanged tokens, and enjoyed refreshments.
Dr. Michael de Roxas (top photo) delivered his inspirational talk, expressing gratitude and appreciation for teachers and leaders from various agencies and institutions. He acknowledged their sacrifices and selfless service to the community in molding young people to become good Christians and responsible citizens. Junifer Felix (1st photo from the left, bottom), representative of the graduate school doctoral students of BCU, presented valuable insights into the current state of education. Dr. Francis Cesar B. Bringas, (2nd photo from left, bottom) a professor at the Graduate School of Baguio Central University and a distinguished figure in the Department of Education, graced the event with his presence. His inspiring stories and words of wisdom captivated the audience and left a lasting impression. He shared that, although he earned his undergraduate degree in BS Chemistry, his true passion and first love is teaching.
Transcending via negativa, students and teachers shared their experiences and challenges from the academic year. Their candid presentations provided valuable insights into the current state of education and sparked discussions about potential solutions.
Dr. Francis Cesar B. Bringas, a professor at the graduate school of BCU and an esteemed figure in the Department of Education, graced the event with his presence. His inspiring stories and words of wisdom captivated the audience and left a lasting impression. This successful alumnus returned to share his experiences and the profound impact education has had on his life. His compelling stories served as a source of inspiration for current students, emphasizing the significance of perseverance and hard work in achieving one’s goals.
Marvin C. Victoriano and Mark B. Libio, graduate school doctoral students showcased their remarkable talent through singing.
Mark B. Libio and Mr. Anderson G. Dawigi, the Masters of Ceremony, their articulative speaking talent make the ambiance exciting and alive all throughout the program.
Alaska Javier Turaray, a member of the class, presented tokens to Dr. De Roxas and Dr. Kupang to express the gratitude of the graduate school doctoral students for their loving service at BCU. The tokens were contributed by all participants who attended the World Teachers’ Day Celebration.
Dr. Genevieve B. Kupang joyfully concluded the World Teachers’ Day celebration by expressing heartfelt gratitude for educators, the true heroes shaping futures. With humor, she acknowledged the essential roles of engaging emcees, impactful keynote speeches, intermission numbers, and the exchange of gifts and food in creating memorable events. She inspired everyone to embrace joy in teaching while emphasizing that teachers are miracle workers. Her uplifting remarks left the audience eagerly anticipating the next celebration, filled with laughter and a delightful array of food, including coffee, cakes, camote, palitaw, pancit, and meat dishes!
The event concluded with a closing prayer by Ms. Helen D. Buyagan, offering thanks for the successful day and seeking continued blessings for the school and community.

The Food and Venue Cleaner Committee, Satur G. Bacdayan, Jr., Anderson G. Dawigi, Prima P. Tolingan, Jhayra A. Baycasan and Emily D. Libod. All hands in the beautification of the stage and preparation of the venue.
Following the formal program, attendees were invited to participate in a community potluck. Everyone contributed a dish, creating a diverse and delicious spread enjoyed by all. This shared meal fostered a sense of camaraderie and strengthened the bonds within the school community. As the event concluded, everyone participated in the community dance, which served as a finale signifying a collective expression of culture, identity, and connection. This form of artistic expression brought people together, fostering a sense of belonging and preserving cultural heritage.
Everyone is enjoying the grand march and community dance. It’s not just a dance; it’s a socialization experience where you can meet new people through handshakes, greetings, and shared smiles to the rhythm of community music.

As Unit Chief in the Regulation and Permitting Section in Benguet, she leads Patent Processing Issuance and has received recognition for facilitating special patents. Committed to public service, she works to bring government services closer to the community.
Fe M. Togmey is a dedicated public school teacher committed to bridging the educational gap between rural and urban students. Her passion for empowering students drives her to pursue graduate studies, enhancing her skills. Through innovative methods and compassion, she inspires students to reach their full potential and fosters a love for learning.
