October 2, 2024, International Day of Nonviolence, the Third World March for Peace and Nonviolence departs from San José, Costa Rica, where it will return after traveling around the world on January 5, 2025.

Costa Rica was chosen as the starting and finishing point of the March because of its characteristic of being a state without an army, a very significant factor in these times of conflicts and wars.

The presentation conference of the Third World March for Peace and Nonviolence was held on September 30 at the Universidad de Estudios a Distancia in San José, Costa Rica, and can be seen on the UNED channel.

In San José, starting from the University facilities, numerous activities will take place throughout the day: speeches by public authorities, the University and the Base Team of the March, the Ethical Commitment ceremony, the creation by the students of the human symbol of non-violence, a march through the streets of San José, in which the participants of the Base Team will be accompanied by the local population.

The March will also begin in parallel in all parts of the world with celebrations of Gandhi’s birthday, declared World Day of Nonviolence by the UN in 2007, with numerous activities in schools, squares and the creation of human symbols.
