Quezon City, Philippines – Rights of Nature (RoN) PH and Philippine Misereor Partnership Inc. (PMPI) are thrilled to announce the successful completion of the “Kalikasan, Karapatan, Komix” Online Drawing Competition, which aimed to raise awareness on environmental issues through the creative talent of artists across the nation. This competition attracted a diverse range of participants, showcasing the incredible creativity and passion of artists who brought to life themes centered on nature conservation, climate justice, and the protection of the environment. The entries illustrated powerful narratives resonating with our communities’ urgent challenges today.

Winners and Highlights:

Judged by AG Sano (a renowned and multi-awarded Filipino artist with over 1200 murals in 17 countries, championing peace and environmental awareness), Cartoonist ZACH (a Filipino political cartoonist whose work appears in print and online publications), Malaya Sadiwa (a seasoned mass media communication professional for more than 20 years), and Yolanda Esguerra (a pioneering advocate for the recognition of the RoN in the Philippines), the competition culminated through a series of online announcements, where the following artists were recognized for their outstanding contributions:

 Sean Angelo Filart – Kwentong Malaya (1st Place-Winner)

Autorart – Papa, hope I made you proud (2nd Place-1st Runner Up) 

Noel de Leon – Ang Hukuman ng Kalikasan (3rd Place-2nd Runner UP) 

M@ching – So You want to live in Aliw-iw (4th Place- 3rd Runner Up)

Michael Evangelista – Nature Rangers (People’s Choice Award)

In addition to cash prizes, the winners will have their works featured in PMPI events and publications, amplifying their messages to a broader audience.

“We’re glad to say that RON PH’s KKK Online Drawing Competition was a success,” said Atty. Josiah Quising, Rights of Nature Campaign Lawyer of PMPI. “We have seen a lot of works from different artists with different styles and it is a pleasure to know that many Filipino artists remain to be advocates for the environment. We hope that they continue educating the public on environmental issues beyond this competition.” RoN PH and PMPI extend heartfelt gratitude to all participants, judges, and supporters who made this event a success. The entries will be showcased on our website, social media platforms, and RoN General Assembly in the coming weeks, allowing everyone to appreciate the creativity and commitment to advocacy that emerged from this competition.
