March 2, 2024, New York City – Thousands of protesters will gather in Washington Square Park at 1:00 p.m. to express their outrage at Israel’s threat to launch a full-scale invasion of Rafah on March 10. The march will demand an immediate ceasefire, an end to all U.S. aid to Israel, and an end to the siege of Gaza.

Renowned activists such as actor Sara Ramírez, writer Mohammed Al Kurd, podcaster Rahma Zein, and others from Palestinian, Arab-American, Muslim, and anti-imperialist organizations building the historic pro-Palestine movement in the city, will address the rally.

The demonstration is endorsed by over 60 organizations including the Palestinian Youth Movement, The People’s Forum, ANSWER Coalition, Nodutdol, Black Alliance for Peace, No Tech for Apartheid, Audre Lorde Project, the Party for Socialism and Liberation, Ridgewood Tenants Union, Uptown 4 Palestine, DRUM NYC, Anakbayan, Bayan, Mamas 4 a Free Palestine, Healthcare Workers for Palestine, Jews Against White Supremacy, Defend Democracy in Brazil, Al-Awda NY, NYC Dissenters, South Asian Left, Columbia University SJP, Columbia University Apartheid Divest, CUMC for Palestine, Black Men Build, UAW Labor for Palestine, Labor for Palestine, and NYC City Workers for Palestine, and many more.

The demonstration is part of the “Millions March for Gaza” global day of action taking place in dozens of cities and towns across the United States and in countries around the world. The march comes one week ahead of Israel’s threatened Rafah invasion, where 1.5 million Palestinians are now crammed after fleeing the Israeli military’s rampage through the rest of Gaza. It is now two times as densely populated as New York City, with people sleeping out in the open and facing mass starvation.

“New Yorkers from all walks of life have been on the streets in firm solidarity with the Palestinian people for nearly 5 months. We are disgusted and angered by Israel’s horrific violence against the Palestinian people, but we will not be demoralized. We will stand with millions around the world calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, hands off Rafah, and an end to the genocide,” said Layan Fuleihan, Education Director of the People’s Forum.

“New York City officials thought that this movement would die out or that we would be intimidated into inaction by their repressive tactics, but our commitment to fight for Palestine has never been stronger. Our vibrant and diverse movement of nurses, artists, teachers, doctors, students, bike delivery workers, municipal employees, trade unionists, restaurant workers, and others will remain on the streets until our demands are met and Palestine is free!” said Munir Marwan of the Palestinian Youth Movement.
