Today Turkish President Erdogan announced to the press that his country is ready to mediate the peace talks needed to resolve the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. The statement issued by the Turkish presidency says that Zelensky and Erdogan have reportedly already held telephone talks on the matter.
Following these communications, the Turkish leader declared that ‘a ceasefire should be established as soon as possible in Ukraine and the door to peace should be opened’, prioritising the restructuring and reopening of the grain corridor and trade, and has taken diplomatic initiatives.
The two sides also discussed the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the statement added. Erdogan said he has also been making an enormous effort to stop the bloodshed and achieve peace in Palestine as soon as possible.
