In the Canadian province of Quebec, the new government has canceled a tuition hike that sparked mass protests earlier this year.
New Quebec Premier Pauline Marois fulfilled a campaign promise less than 24 hours after the new government came to power by repealing the planned fee hike.
Students had launched a massive strike over the increase with hundreds of thousands taking to the streets wearing red squares. Quebec’s tuition will now return to just more than $2,000.
