Public statement on the Constituent Agreement
At a time when the bases of a new constituent process are being discussed, for humanists it is very important to reaffirm the democratic principle as the guiding principle to promote any agreement for social coexistence. Popular sovereignty is the basis of any democratic society and undermining such principles takes us back to very complex moments in our country.
The outburst of October 2019, beyond any interpretation, was the result of a democratic institutionality incapable of providing responses to popular demands, which is why we propose that the only way to overcome the current social fracture must be to broaden our democratic horizons and not restrict them. A 100% elected Convention goes in that direction and is the objective that all democratic sectors should have.
