The Chinese Embassy in the United States said it was unaware of Russia’s alleged request for military assistance.
Embassy spokesman Liu Pengyu issued a statement saying that China is deeply concerned about the crisis in Ukraine. He reiterated that China advocates the utmost efforts to support Russia and Ukraine in carrying forward the talks despite the challenges.
The statement underlines the priority of preventing the situation from escalating or getting out of control. It also reaffirms China’s call to prevent a massive humanitarian crisis, as well as to exercise maximum restraint.
Finally, it emphasises that China will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
