POEM

Let us build a living space
Amidst the barbed wire and rusting fences.

Here, from its steel embrace
Emerge from ancient sleep

Dreams that survive the morning light.

Here, words interlace
Spoken from the head and heart

Deeply moving
And in its uttering, breath new life.

Let us build a clearing space
Amidst this tangle of brush and fallen leaves.

Here, with farseeing gaze
Conjure new fables
New landscapes among the ruins of dead seas.

As one, shape a sacred space…
Amidst the dying embers of burnt-out fires

Here, grounded on the ashes
Grace flickers anew.
