January 4 marks the end of the extradition hearings for Julian Assange in England. He is accused of having published US military documents on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, revealing to the whole world the reality of how the US military operates in those countries. Videos, audio recordings and documents were received and published by newsrooms around the world.
At 9 am January 4, the judge in London will decide on the life of Julian Assange: extradition yes or no? It is clearly a political trial.
Attacking and punishing Julian Assange for doing excellent journalism is a terrifying warning and a very dangerous precedent for anyone who does information– journalists and ordinary citizens. In short, “write something we don’t like and you will end up like Julian Assange”.
If Julian is extradited, every journalist will no longer be free. Freedom of the press, democracy, respect for the law will no longer exist and we will all be forced to censor ourselves so as not to be punished like Julian Assange.
From 10 am Italian time, from the FB page called Patto Julian Assange (here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/PattoJulianAssange), we will reconstruct what happened by reviewing videos, interviews, documentaries, to better understand the reasons, how and what Julian Assange suffered while waiting to know the outcome of the sentence.
All NO-Stop guests are friends, journalists, men and women who are fighting for Julian’s freedom and will comment in turn from London. Pressenza will be present.
