An intense day of activities marked the return of the Third World March for Peace and Nonviolence to San José, Costa Rica, from where it had started on 2 October last year.

The day was conceived as a journey through the city of San José with walks, speeches, inaugurations, workshops, exhibitions, singing and dancing, and artistic performances in a joyful festive atmosphere, with many children, schools, families, social activists, teachers, and musicians accompanying the members of the March’s core team.

It was possible to follow this closing ceremony around the world thanks to the live streaming organised by the YouTube channel of UNED, the University of Costa Rica, which joined the March and ideally accompanied it throughout its journey.

The World March once again travelled across all the continents, crossing some 70 countries, despite numerous difficulties, reminding us of the urgent need for conflict cessation, nuclear disarmament, education for nonviolence, non-discrimination, care for the planet, and UN reform.
