Kannur: World March for Peace and Nonviolence Arrives to Spread Messages of Nonviolence and Peace
The third World March for Peace and Nonviolence, led by the organization World Without Wars and Violence, will reach Kannur on November 4-5 as part of its mission to promote peace and nonviolence. This march, which began in Costa Rica on October 2, 2024, will conclude again in Costa Rica on January 5, 2025.
Welcoming Events in Kerala
On November 4, at 9:45 a.m., members of the march, Rafael de la Rubia and Diego Vinay, will arrive at Nedumbassery Airport in Kochi. From there, they will travel to Kannur and participate in various peace events. The marchers will be accompanied from Ernakulam to Kannur by train, guided by Dayanand, Nixon, and Anil Jose.
As part of celebrating Kerala’s message of peace and warm hospitality, a venue will be arranged at Me Square, Metro Pillar 332, Kalamassery, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This platform will allow attendees to hear directly from the march participants about their peace initiatives and experiences, while also offering the guests a glimpse of Kerala’s rich cultural heritage.
Later in the day, at 6:40 p.m., an official welcome will be held at Kannur Railway Station, where Chairman K.P. Ravindran and Coordinator T.P.R. Nath will honor the group with garlands. Following a photo session, the team will proceed to the Hotel Royal Omars.
November 5: Peace Gatherings
On November 5, at 9:30 a.m., a special reception will be held for the base team at Mahatma Mandir, with members from local peace organizations present. At 10:30 a.m., the team will be officially welcomed by the Mayor of Kannur Corporation.
At Kannur University
At 12:00 p.m., the team will attend a special meeting with the Vice Chancellor of Kannur University. This event is invite-only, with participation limited to 13 representatives from the university.
Public Conference
At 2:30 p.m., a public conference will take place at Chamber Hall, where Rafael de la Rubia, the leader of the World March, and the team will share messages of peace. Students from various colleges will have the opportunity to join this event and share in the march’s peace vision.
Meeting with Community Leaders
At 6:00 p.m., there will be a special meeting with community leaders and promotional team members. Leaders from various peace organizations and promotion team members are expected to come together for this gathering.
The march team will depart for Mumbai on November 6.
