On 15 October 2024, part of the core team composed of Alessandro Capuzzo from Italy, Juan Gomez from Chile and Vanessa Vaglio from Costa Rica, met in New York at the United Nations headquarters of the Brahma Kumaris Spiritual University Institute, chaired by Ms. Sabita Geer, under the coordination of the Ambassador to the United Nations of the University for Peace, Mr. Ramu Damodaran.
The meeting was also attended by Ms. Bircan Unver of the NGO Light Millennium, Mr. Lindy Crescitelli of the Gandhi Foundation, Mr. Elik Elhanan of the American Friends of Combatants for Peace (https://www.afcfp.org/), Medical Volunteers in Gaza and other peace activists, including Mr. Jose Vega, independent candidate for the House of Representatives.
It was a very fruitful meeting, as several cooperation agreements were made to disseminate and hold events in the framework of the Third World March for Peace and Nonviolence, through the different groups, communication channels and platforms with which the organisations participating in the meeting have relationships.
Efforts will be made to involve several related universities and educational institutes in the United States and India in the Conversatory to be held in November this year organised by the UNED of Costa Rica and World without Wars and without Violence.
During the meeting the Base Team took the opportunity to share the document of the proposal to the UN for the neutrality of the Italian zone of Trieste, requesting support for this initiative, for which it was agreed its participation in several conferences to be organised by S. José Vega.
All the participants agreed on the importance of stopping the weapons and putting a stop to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, due to the tremendous humanitarian damage that is causing.
Finally, it was proposed to promote a great call from Costa Rica on January 5, 2025 at the closing of the World March, through a great concert with musicians from various parts of the planet, to promote and disseminate peace and the cessation of wars and nonviolence as the only way out so that this civilisation can advance along a path of evolution of consciousness, prosperity for all humanity and harmony between all human and non-human beings with whom we share the planet.
Thus, this Third March intends to call attention to make a personal, family and community movement of small or big actions towards PEACE and NONVIOLENCE.
