This Saturday, September 28, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez and Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil will join a Gaza Solidarity Fundraiser at the Apollo Theater in Harlem.
This event will come shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addresses the United Nations General Assembly, defending his ongoing actions against the Palestinian people. While Netanyahu receives substantial military support from the U.S., Cuba and Venezuela have consistently denounced the Israeli genocide of Palestinians.

Despite facing severe U.S. sanctions, both nations remain steadfast in their commitment to supporting oppressed communities worldwide. As U.S. leaders overlook the plight of the Palestinian people, Cuba and Venezuela have actively engaged in international efforts to promote solidarity and bring attention to the ongoing crisis.
The event will include a conversation between leaders of Latin America who provide a strong example of international solidarity efforts around the world, and U.S. leaders and intellectuals who are part of the growing movement for Palestine within the U.S. The fundraiser, taking place alongside the U.N. General Assembly, aims to connect Latin American and U.S. communities while highlighting the deep bonds of solidarity and friendship that exist across borders. The event will include Lameess Mohammed of the Palestinian Youth Movement, Vijay Prashad of Tricontinental Institute for Social Research, and Manolo De Los Santos of The People’s Forum.
“We have much to learn from Cuba and Venezuela about true solidarity. These nations have consistently stood by the Palestinian people and have supported us here in the U.S. during our times of need, such as offering doctors after Hurricane Katrina and providing free fuel to warm the homes of poor people in the South Bronx. They exemplify what it means to be good neighbors,” stated Manolo De Los Santos, Executive Director of the People’s Forum and event organizer.
The event proceeds will be donated to the Middle Eastern Children’s Alliance which has been carrying out important aid efforts in Gaza over the last year.
