President Joe Biden signed an executive order that places stronger regulations on undocumented migrants seeking asylum at the Southern border on June 4th. According to President Biden, this decision was made to combat the fentanyl crisis, as well as manage immigration from Palestinian refugees.

This decision comes after President Biden expressed his frustration with Republican legislators during a White House press release on Tuesday because of their disagreements on how the border should be secured.

“Frankly, I would have preferred to address this issue through bipartisan legislation, because that’s the only way to actually get the kind of system we have now — that’s broken — fixed, to hire more Border Patrol agents, more asylum officers, more judges. But Republicans have left me with no choice. ” President Biden said.
