Amid the hustle and bustle of everyday life, we are often confronted with the inescapable reality of loss. It is in these moments of vulnerability that the need for support and understanding is most acute. In Madrid, in the year 2020, a project was born to fill this gap: Vida y Pérdida. Founded by two passionate psychologists with more than 15 years of experience in the field of bereavement, this initiative is a beacon of light in dark times.
Vida y pérdida was born out of the fervent desire of two psychology professionals to offer a safe space where people in mourning can find comfort, understanding, and tools to face their process. More than just a clinical practice, this initiative is based on a deep commitment to raising awareness in society about the importance of support in times of chronic illness, end-of-life, and bereavement.
Vida y Pérdida’s mission is to provide professional bereavement support at any age, to expand its network of professionals, and to raise awareness in society about the complexity of these processes. From individual, family, and group support to the training of health and education professionals, this project covers various fields of action with a holistic approach.
Supported by two experts in clinical psychology and bereavement, as well as a network of parents who share their experiences, Vida y Pérdida has a solid base from which to achieve its goals. The beneficiaries of this initiative are both bereaved people and health and education professionals who wish to improve their approach to these situations.
Through face-to-face sessions in Madrid and online services, Vida y Pérdida provides psychological support for all types of bereavement, with a particular focus on supporting families who have lost a child. Its work also includes bereavement training, awareness-raising campaigns and publications to spread its message throughout the country.

As part of its efforts to improve support in critical situations and at the end of life, Vida y Pérdida has produced the booklet “Juntos de la Mano”. Aimed at health professionals, this resource presents real stories of families who have experienced bereavement, offering reflections and key points to enrich the relationship between health professionals and the bereaved.
In a world marked by haste and indifference, initiatives such as Life and Loss remind us of the importance of empathy, companionship and care in life’s most difficult moments. In its commitment to offer a space of light in the darkness of grief, this project stands as a beacon of hope for those who experience the pain of loss.
