This riveting film is a first-person account of the horrors of nuclear war and the power of love and forgiveness to triumph over inhumanity. We will be joined by the author and executive producer of the film, Dr. Akiko Mikamo. She is the child of two Hiroshima survivors, and wrote this book, based on her father’s reflections, to spread his message of resiliency and forgiveness. No detailed accounts of a Hiroshima survivor have been available or presented in this format in English before. Dr. Akiko will speak and take questions from the live audience following the film showing.

This discussion has perhaps never been more timely and important. The danger of nuclear war has escalated to a point that no thoughtful person on the planet can ignore it any longer. The recent eruption of population warfare in Southwest Asia highlights the danger that we might shortly face, not only a devastating regional war, but a new world war. This is not acceptable to any of us who care about the wellbeing of all of humanity —those who do not wish to see the human race wiped off the face of the earth.
This film and discussion, and others like it, can hopefully play a much-needed role in raising our consciousness, and that of our fellow citizens, such that we may achieve an end to war, and secure a durable peace. The film will be shown in a beautiful theater on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The venue and/or ZOOM details will be emailed once tickets are purchased.
