It has been 75 years since the UN approved the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and it is alarming to see the regression in its application.
The calls to demand its development and implementation are multiplying.
With the slogan “Human Rights, let’s make them happen now”, different humanist organisations are calling for rallies in different parts of Spain on the occasion of International Human Rights Day.
It is now 75 years since the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and we are observing how we are moving backward in an alarming way and by leaps and bounds in its application. “What is more, today the very survival of the United Nations and the meaning that gave rise to it are at stake and it is time to defend human rights if possible with greater force”, the organisation declares.
In the case of Madrid, an event will take place on the Cuesta de Moyano (Atocha) on Sunday 10 at 12 noon.
The event will give voice to the different articles of the Declaration, make a request for its fulfillment, and will close with music committed to peace and nonviolence.
There are calls in different parts of Spain, and you can find them at this link.
