At last, it happened. The faithful guardian of planetary democracy and the civil liberties of the world’s peoples, the US State Department, officially accused my Latin American friends and me of “spreading the Kremlin’s narrative” and attempting to “propagate anti-US and anti-NATO sentiments in Latin America”.

Here is the original publication, which I will be obliged to help disseminate to the State Department:

The world’s gendarme is getting meaner and meaner. Perhaps he is running short of budget for smarter advisers, or as usual he underestimates the intellectual capacities of the readers of his statements.

I respond in order:

  1. The planetary propaganda machine, designed to professionally brainwash the population of more than one country, including my unfortunate Ukraine, now cares to accuse us of spreading an opinion that calls into question its democratic, universal and definitive truth. They suddenly realised that some independent journalists from a distant country wrote something without consulting them. We know that your statements of this kind are always threats. If anyone does not understand what I mean, let them remember the fate of Julian Assange.
  2. The authors of the denunciation are sure that the inhabitants of Latin America do not know their own history, which better than a thousand Putins teaches them to have, to put it mildly, “anti-US and anti-NATO moods”.
  3. Individuals, publishers, organisations and governments, as stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, have the right to express themselves freely without having to answer to any supreme world moral authority. Especially to one, which no one appointed to such a position.
  4. If, in order to prove our conspiracy against your exemplary democracy, the US State Department intends to increase the number of co-conspirators, I can offer you an expanded list with the names of thousands and other “accomplices” living all over the world. They, despite warnings, threats and assassinations, resist every day the pacifist and harmless propaganda paid for by NATO budgets.
  5. All my life I have considered US governments “the worst enemy of humanity”, as the famous Russian propagandist, the Latin American Ernesto Guevara, once put it. The only weapon at my disposal is the word and with it we do what we believe to be right.
  6. We are accused of being “agents” by those who maintain their agents-presidents, agents – “social and youth leaders”, agents-specialists in information and psychological warfare all over the world. Today they are horrified that a few sheep have miraculously escaped from their information pen.
  7. The accusations that I am “anti-US” are false, I have many great friends there. The people of the USA are as much victims of their government as anyone else.
  8. Why does the State Department care what is published in Latin America? Their media and social networks control most of the world’s media space to expose our insidious plots. Isn’t that enough for them? What are they so afraid of?
  9. Can anyone imagine any other country, for example Russia or China, publishing an official document warning the African media for “promoting the White House agenda”?
  10. It is perhaps commonplace, but I will reiterate it. Despite the technology, the acknowledged intellectual brilliance, the budgets and the efforts of the US State Department and NATO, humanity will one day win. Of that there is no doubt.

The “cold war” times seem to be back, but it’s like the second film with the same characters and the same script, with lousy actors. Blinken is clearly not Kissinger. The re-edition of the “hand of Moscow” always linked with “Castro-Chavism”, “narco-communism” or “Muslim terrorism”, depending on the moment and the market.

Already the Latin American oligarchic media such as “Proceso”, “Infobae”, “La Tercera” and others are encouraged by the new agenda to follow and return to the usual: “unmasking” and humiliating the independent press, because they have no idea about journalistic independence.

If any of them could take advantage of the allocated budgets and do some real journalistic research, they would realise that the “anti-US and anti-NATO” narratives in the Latin American independent media date back long before Putin came to power in Russia and none of them would ever defend any Nazi regime, such as the one in Ukraine.

In reality, Russia does not need to be defended or justified for money; although this is the only logic the West taught the Soviet peoples after perestroika. Not only Russia, but everyone in the world needs to raise the level of analysis and discussion of this most dangerous historical crossroads.

We need all kinds of criticism, but intelligent, disinterested, committed criticism. This is the space for our meeting that is built in the world of independent media, those that do not move with the logic of money or threats. This is incomprehensible to those who cannot conceive that anything in the world is driven by non-monetary interests.
