PMPI or Philippine Misereor Partnership Incorporated recently organized a crucial forum dedicated to the upcoming 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Elections. The event A FORUM ON THE
2023 BARANGAY AND SK ELECTIONS aimed to foster a deeper understanding of current issues and
concerns surrounding these elections and emphasize the pivotal role played by barangays and the SK in
shaping our local communities.
In line with the event’s objectives, a discussion was held about voter education and the electoral process,
shedding light on the significance of responsible voting in choosing competent leaders for our society.
Additionally, this segment explored the vital functions and authority of barangays, which are the backbone of our local governance.
During the forum, attendees had the privilege of engaging with esteemed speakers who shared their
insights on various issues and concerns related to the upcoming elections and the roles of barangay and
SK officials. Notable speakers included Hon. George Erwin M. Garcia, the 23rd Chairman of the
Commission on Elections, and Atty. Dondi Justiniani, a prominent advocate for environmental protection, electoral reform, people’s participation, the right to health, and human rights.
The forum concluded with a call to action for all attendees and the broader community to unite in their
efforts. The key objectives are to advance voter education, advocate for fair and peaceful elections, and
