The world’s living in a very complicated political situation, especially with the Ukraine War lasting more than anyone ever thought and people want peace. “The situation we are facing now isn’t just coming out of Putin’s or Zelensky’s madness but is a complex process with consequences more than war and violence and people want peace”, Federica Fratini, activist and humanist for Europe for Peace says.

Created in 2007 by members of the humanist movement, Europe for Peace preaches for the end of militarisation, end of hate-speech and worldwide peace. The organisation is now fully determined to “stop the madness of the war in Ukraine between Russia and the US before it explodes into a third world war”.

Federica Fratini, a spokesperson and member of Europe for Peace, states that, due to the complexity of this situation, and the fact that it escalated rapidly, “there’s no way to resolve this conflict without sitting down and explaining one to one another”.

The consequences of the war go further than death and destruction and affect, soon or later, everyone. Food prices have increased 14% all over the world and the cost of fuel has increased by more than $100 per barrel since the beginning of the war. “In our position, we can and should demand responsibility to all the parties involved, not only Ukraine and Russia, but all Europe, USA and NATO”, Fratini declared.

Europe for Peace claims a diplomatic and peaceful approach instead of the solution proposed by the governments, which results mainly in violence, weapons and death. This peace-dedicated day’s objective is to create the proper conditions to proceed to the dialogue.

“It seems that governments don’t see anything else but war and weapons. They want to win, they need to win”, Fratini explained. “They don’t talk about peace, because the goal is winning”.

To take public action, Europe for Peace is launching a peaceful campaign demanding the “right to health, education, work and a liveable planet“. This European mobilisation day will take place on the 2nd of April. “It seems that governments don’t see anything else but war and weapons. They want to win, they need to win”, Fratini explained. “They don’t talk about peace, because the goal is winning”. Fratini said: “We are inviting everyone to manifest. The government doesn’t listen to the voice of the people, so we have to make our voices loud.

This is a political, social, spiritual and economical campaign which, all together, make a humanist campaign, and where all the complexity of human nature is involved so we can all make a conscious action of peace and non-violence”.

The campaign is open to everyone, but those who cannot attend a peaceful and public manifestation have other ways to help bring attention to this subject. “We believe that the best way to honour the harmed is to make action to try to prevent it again in the future, and everybody can do something”, the organisation’s spokesperson declared.

One of the things recommended by Europe by Peace is turning off the TV and social media for a day so the population can spend some time without war-manipulated information and propaganda and “engage in direct communication” instead.

“We invite everyone and every organisation to manifest and create something.

it doesn’t matter what, just do something: organise a protest, put up flyers, write a letter to the embassy or make a prayer, anything aimed to the end of war”, the organisation asks.
