As a product of fossil fuels, plastic is one of the main drivers of the climate crisis. Continued plastic production and consumption heat up global climate temperatures, deplete our resources, intoxicate the environment, and create public health issues, feed incinerators, and choke landfills and oceans.
January 6 is the day to say, “Enough!”. As the opening salvo of the International Zero Waste Month (IZWM), GAIA together with its members and allies will double down on its commitment to the thriving global movement that puts an end to unsustainable production and waste pollution.
To this end, a flash mob will be conducted this Friday at the heart of the Quezon City commercial center to raise the demand for policymakers and businesses to eliminate the use and production of single-use plastics as part of the solution to the climate and plastic pollution crises.
