The supplies for São Paulo’s Butantan Institute to produce another 14 million doses of CoronaVac, a vaccine against the coronavirus, arrived this morning (Mar. 4). The shipment, which came from China, landed at the International Airport of Guarulhos. It is the biggest batch of the raw material seen thus far.
The shipment sent by laboratory Sinovac has 8.2 thousand liters of the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). On February 10, Butantan had received 5.6 thousand liters of the API, and on February 3 a shipment of 5.4 thousand liters.
Since January 17, Butantan has delivered 14.4 million doses of the vaccine, distributed countrywide through the country’s national public health care system, the SUS.
The institute is expected to provide another 21 million doses by the end of this month and deliver a total of 46 million doses by the end of April.
