The undersigned organizations have gathered in a historic meeting whose purpose was to give a sign of unity in the face of the indolence and lack of willingness of the government, businessmen and parliament to listen, attend and process the demands that the Chilean people have expressed in the streets during the last few days.
In this context, we situate as our strategic objective the drafting of a New Constitution that allows us to establish the political and economic bases for the social rights that were taken away in the dictatorship and that for 30 years no government has had the will to recover.
For this New Constitution, the workers consider that the only legitimate path is the Constituent Assembly that restores the protagonism to the Chilean people as a whole, making them participants in the decisions that affect all of society.
In order to advance in this and in the set of demands that social, popular and trade union organizations have raised, as a faithful reflection of what the street demands, we have agreed to constitute a Strike Committee that paves the way for an effective paralysis of all sectors and that advances towards a General Strike that demonstrates our strength and conviction to transform Chile forever.
