I hope this finds you well. As you may have heard, the last several days have been unbearable for many communities with the ICE Raids and the uncertainty of the Muslim Ban. As union leaders and activists, we must continue to find ways to help people we touch ever day in our work feel they are not alone and give them hope when we at times don’t feel hopeful. They look to us for guidance and direction and it is our obligation to do so.
As you all know the American Muslim community continues to feel under siege, and therefore others and I are working to make sure they know they are not alone. Sisters and brothers, I ask you once again, to stand with me and my community this coming Sunday at the I Am A Muslim Too rally. This event is being organized by The Foundation For Ethnic Understanding and The Nusantara Foundation, with support from over 150 partner organizations of which the Muslim Community Network is one of and helping organize the rally.
We call on union groups and activists to declare their solidarity with American Muslims at a rally in New York’s Times Square (48th St and Broadway), to protest President Donald Trump’s executive order targeting travel from Muslim-majority countries on February 19th. New Yorkers of all faiths and ethnic backgrounds are asked to join the movement and stand up for the American Muslim community. Rally: February 19th, the event starts at 12pm in Times Square – 48th St and Broadway.
We need you as allies to endorse and bring out people to show the world we have each other’s back. Please find the flyers attached, the Facebook and twitter link below to do your outreach.
