Charlotte Church, Carl Barât, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, The Magic Numbers, Tom McRae, Kathryn Williams and Lock, accompanied by Ed Harcourt and the Dirty Pretty Strings, with comedy from Simon Munnery

Stars from the worlds of rock, pop and comedy will perform at The Flying Seagull Project’s benefit concert for child refugees at London’s Union Chapel on Friday 2nd December. Curated by Mercury Prize nominee Ed Harcourt, the confirmed acts include Charlotte Church, Carl Barât, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, The Magic Numbers, Tom McRae, Kathryn Williams, Lock, the Dirty Pretty Strings and Simon Munnery, with further special guests to be announced.

Professional entertainer Ash Perrin founded The Flying Seagull Project in 2007 to bring happiness to children who are underprivileged, marginalised or suffering. It consists of around 20 performers who run art workshops, music lessons and circus shows, spreading “love, light and laughter” to children in hospitals, orphanages, deaf/blind schools and refugee camps around the world.

Charlotte Church said: “Honoured to be a part of this event to raise funds for The Flying Seagull Project. In these dark and uncertain times, the work that The Flying Seagull Project does brings light and laughter to some of the most put upon children in the world. That, I’m sure everyone can agree, is a beautiful thing.”

Ed Harcourt said: “Tickets are on sale for the Union Chapel extravaganza. If you can make it, know it’s for a really good cause. The Flying Seagull Project are out in the refugee camps at the moment, making a real difference for these kids.”

Ash Perrin said: “Over the past couple of months two incredible things have happened. We have welcomed hundreds of kids into our circus tent and watched them transform into children again through play and laughter. The other is Ed Harcourt and his friends rallying behind us to make sure these children keep playing. As musicians they have the power to lift hearts and inspire minds. To have them uniting with us for happiness through play is encouraging us to never stop spreading love, light and laughter to children everywhere.”

Tickets are on sale now at www.unionchapel.org.uk with a special offer for 48 hours only from midday on Monday 14 November: http://store.unionchapel.org.uk/events/2-dec-16-ed-harcourt–friends-and-the-flying-seagull-project-present-a-benefit-for-child-refugees-union-chapel/
