Paris, Nov 29 (Prensa Latina) While thousands of people demonstrated over this weekend in the world demanding effective actions against climate change, people joined their arms to form a human chain of about three kilometers in this capital city.
A rally scheduled for today in Paris was banned, as was another planned for December 12, a day following the end of the global climate change conference that will be officially opened tomorrow at the Paris Le Bourget Exhibition Center, in the north of the city.
Following the measures taken in the wake of the November 13 attacks in Paris and the state of emergency declared since then, some people say that beyond ensuring safety, the bans on demonstrations in France seek to silence opposing viewpoints.
However, the Coalition Climate 21, made up of 130 organizations, suggested to form a human chain east of Paris, which could cover the route planned for the banned demonstration.
Hundreds of pairs of shoes were laid out today in Place de la Republique to symbolize absent marchers.
