Around one hundred people died and many more were injured in an explosion that took place in Ankara, Turkey in an event with the slogan “Against War, Peace Now”. The intention of this attack was to terrorise not only those on the demonstration but the whole of society. The murderers are trying to ensure that our people become used to terror and violence. Their aim is to achieve that the people are desperate and scared and therefore will stop demonstrating on the street.
This attack, whoever the perpetrator turns out to be, is due to the increasingly murderous expanding policies of the party that has been in power for years, the AKP. Reactionary islamist gangs, in particular, those who benefited from the hostility against Syria, are now back in Turkey, knowing that the AKP will protect them. For years, they have acted as the executors of imperialism and they continue this role in Turkey.
The AKP government, which cannot even bear to hear talk of peace, has no doubt in resorting to any instrument to impose their violent policies.
To oppose is the task of all those who love peace and progressive forces. The best response that our people can give to this cruel attack in Ankara is to fulfil this task. It’s the only way to oppose the objectives of imperialism and its collaborator, the AKP and in order to reach a real peace.
Our people will not bow before imperialism and its collaborators.
