Some people are suggesting to give independence to the Muslim provinces in the Philippines South. But, full independence is never the answer. Full autonomy, in a confederate government is a much better solution. That was the mistake of Gandhi and Gorbachev – letting go of their former states/provinces, ie., Ukraine, Pakistan, etc. Gorby admitted that this was his biggest mistake – to give independence to most of the East Bloc members of the Russian Confederation, which the US saw as an opportunity to destabilize Russia. Now, one by one, these former member states of the USSR are becoming NATO members.

Letting go of the Bangsa Moro by giving them independence does not necessarily mean cessation of conflicts, or even wars. Just look at the relations between India and Pakistan – they are now the best of enemies.
How about Russia and Ukraine? It’s even possible that this present conflict could be the start of an all out war. And if Ukraine becomes a member of NATO and goes to war with Russia, the other NATO members have the obligation to also declare war on Russia. The beginning of WW3?
You know, this might actually be what the Chicken Hawks in the US really wanted from the beginning.
Going back to the situation in Mindanao; to be honest, the problem in the South is really tiny compared to the problem of dishonesty of our corrupt government officials. The real problem stems from that, including the problem of the Bangsamoro.
Commentator Ben Razon says that’s true. “The problem remains Manila’s intransigence towards the Moro problem. Because a few hands think it’s better to profit more from war than development. Always been, and sadly may always be.” Adding, “On top of the fact that the Aquino regime and the interests they serve would not be where they are now if not for their habitual and historical kowtowing and dependence on the Americans.”
