Berlin, Mar 17 (Prensa Latina) Global arms trade increased last year in a 14 percent, informed the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). With a participation of seven percent, Germany is on third place among the nations that export arms, according to the source.
The list is headed by the United States, with 29 percent in the acquisition of arms and Russia with 27 percent.
China increased its exports in the period 2009-2013 and is fourth with six percent, while France keeps that war business in five percent.
The five main exporters controlled 74 percent of the global arm traffic. USA and Russia account for a total of 56 percent, according to SIPRI.
On the other hand, India keeps first place as importer.
In Europe, the United Kingdom is the major importer with a 12 percent, while Greece, despite its economic and financial crisis, has an eleven percent of imports.
Nevertheless, SIPRI said the purchase of arms decreased in European countries in a 25 percent in the last five years.
In Germany, groups from the Movement for Peace criticized the high level of arms exports.
Arms sale increase the threat of military conflicts and the arms race, said the Federal Council for Peace, an alliance of organizations and groups.
Activists recalled German Federal Government the 2000 official guidelines on arm exports promised to restrict arms business.
