United Nations, Jan 8 (Prensa Latina) Bolivian President, Evo Morales, said today that the South American country will promote from the Presidency of the Group of 77 plus China a fair and peaceful world order based on harmony with nature.
We will defend a planet without impositions, hierarchies, plundering of resources or interventionist wars; a planet where the rights of mother earth are considered, stated Morales at the United Nations during the handover ceremony of the blocâÖs presidency, which brings together 133 developing countries. To Morales, the construction without exclusions of a new international order must have into account 10 objectives, which he exhibited at the event. The ceremony was attended by the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon and the President of the General Assembly, John Ashe. From the G-77 we must promote a change in the priorities of the generation of wealth, to switch from spending and hoarding the profits to satisfying the needs of human beings, said at the ceremony where Bolivia took the presidency of the group established in June 1964 from Fiji. The Latin American leader also noted the urgency of replacing the representative democracy for the participatory and community ones, in order to put an end to the dominance of elites, so that all voices are heard equally. The South American nation will head the G-77 plus China during 2014, an organization created with the purpose of articulating and promoting the interests of the states of the South in economic issues within the UN system. sgl/Ycf/ro/wmr |
