Beijing, Dec 20 (Prensa Latina) Today the putting into orbit of Tupac Katari satellite joined Bolivia to the countries with ingenuity of this type, which do not exceed fifty in the world and only reaches six in South America.The Tupac Katari was launched into space from the Xichang space center in southwestern China, to where President Evo Morales went on an official visit to the Asian country. Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela and Colombia had satellites in the region before Bolivia.
For its purpose, satellites are divided into six main groups: communications, weather, navigation, military and spies, earth observation, scientific and international purposes. The Tupac Katari ranks among the top and provide telecommunications services to approximately three million Bolivians living in rural areas, where there is no cell phone, radio or television.
