This video documentary shows the quite terrible situation in the context of how Syria was before all this chaos and death. Clearly from the Russian side and condemning the opposition (to the Government) which is reported in the documentary as causing the real ‘mischief’, such as rounding up locals, shooting them, and laying blame on Government troops, lots of examples of like attrocities, even firing squads killing captured people off-handedly with shouts of “God is Great” and as the bystander says, these executioners “have no idea what Islam is, these are not Muslims…”
Thing is, the news reported in the West is got – and taken – from the opposition side with little balance and of course news is hazardously got, but better than reporting with the Iraq method of sending journalists with the invading side – at least people understood where that on-the-spot news came from…!
From the beginning journalists such as Sharmine Narwani (http://english.al-akhbar.com/ ) which articles we re-published by Pressenza, also Tarak Barkawi (Al-Jazeera) where we also got permissions to republish, and John Rosenthal (National Review), have been saying this and we have reported that so there is no feeling on our side that the documentary we see today is excessively biased but of course it is selectively edited – a fine line indeed. There have been atrocities on all sides – note we don’t say ‘both’ as there seems to be many sides – it is complex.
Thus we present this material here on Pressenza.
