“With this meeting, we opened a new page.” Meshal said.
He added, “We want to assure our people and the Arab and Islamic
world that we have turned a new and real page in partnership on everything to do with the Palestinian nation”.
He continued to say, “We have agreed on everything and discussed all
the details of the Palestinian cause mainly the political developments. We are interested in working together as partners and our responsibility to serve our people is the same”.
“There are no differences or disagreement on any of the issues.” Abbas
said,
He added, “This meeting was meant to conclude all the reconciliation
talks and open a new page of good relations”.
He continued to say, “The talks were very comprehensive, covering all
details about reconciliation, as a result, we have narrowed all the differences and agreed on a new partnership”.
Senior Fatah official Azzam al-Ahmed said that the two leaders agreed
on several points like closing the case of political detentions, preparing a
positive atmosphere for the general elections on its agreed date on May
next year and promoting popular resistance against Israeli occupation and
settlements.
Azzam affirmed that the President Abbas wants to deploy all efforts to
reach the Palestinian reconciliations.
Earlier Thursday, the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said
that in order to restart the Mideast peace talks, the Palestinian Authority should stop the reconciliation process with Hamas.
