The leader said he felt “better than ever in mind, spirit and soul”. He also made clear that he had never considered retiring from his post.
Chávez had an operation last month in Cuba to remove a carcinogenic tumor.
Last week he successfully completed his first round of chemotherapy, carried out on the island. However, Chávez revealed that he will have to undergo more sessions to avoid the possibility of the malignant cells reproducing.
“I’m determined to make it to 2031,” said the Venezuelan president.
This Sunday Chávez led a memorial service for a new anniversary marking the birth of Simón Bolívar.
