The ten ships of Freedom Flotilla Two, as a result of diplomatic arm-twisting and sabotage have faced a variety of setbacks as they attempt to break the Israeli siege on Gaza.
Currently seven ships are held in Greek Ports, two are sabotaged and not seaworthy and one, the French boat, is in International waters currently sailing towards Gaza.
Earlier this week the Canadian boat the Tahrir attempted to sail out of Port, but was stopped by Greek naval vessels. Subsequently three activists were arrested; two were released yesterday on suspended sentences after appearing in court. The other is in court today to face charges of allowing the boat to leave port without authorisation.
The Tahrir was also damaged as it was being brought back to Port by Greek vessels; the crew of the Canadian boat are demanding that Greek authorities repair the boat as quickly as possible so not to encounter further setbacks.
The French Boat Dignity is currently the only boat sailing towards Gaza. Israeli daily The Jerusalem Post has reported that the Israeli Army is gearing up to intercept the boat as it nears Gaza. Dignity is currently thought to be in International waters near Greece with 8 activists on board.
Greek Authorities had previously stated that no ships carrying any flag can leave Greek Ports, a direct attempt to stop the Flotilla boats and International activists from reaching Gaza.
The Irish and Scandinavian boats had been previously sabotaged allegedly by Israel in an attempt to stop the boats from sailing. The Irish boat was sabotaged to the extent that if it sailed, it would have sunk in open sea.
