Excluded by the forces of law and order, the volunteers were welcomed at the stand, La Via Campesina, an association of small food producers who staged a demonstration for food sovereignty in front of the FAO.
“World without Wars and without Violence” is the promoting organisation of the World March for Peace and Nonviolence which, having departed on October 2nd from Wellington (New Zealand), conducted a leg in Italy from November 7th to 12th and will end at the foot of Aconcagua (Argentina) on January 2nd.
These are the demands of the March: 1. nuclear disarmament at the global level; 2. the progressive, proportional reduction of conventional weapons; 3. the signing of non-aggression pacts between nations; 4. the immediate withdrawal of invasion troops from the occupied territories; 5. the renunciation by governments of the use of war as a means of conflict resolution.
Hundreds of thousands of people have joined the greatest march for peace in history, including national presidents, Nobel Prize-winners, scientists, artists and organisations from all over the world.
