The Mayor of the city of Moreno, Andrés Arregui, announced support for the organization World Without Wars’ initiative, which is aimed at significantly raising awareness of the urgency of nuclear disarmament, the end of war and of violence. “We firmly believe in the efforts that various institutions and organizations from all over the world have been making so that, after January 2, which is the final date of this World March for Peace and Nonviolence, all of us who are politically accountable, who are committed to finding real and concrete solutions to the immense number of difficulties and problems that our society faces, meet”, he stated.
The mayors of the Argentine cities of General Alvear, Rivadavia and Las Heras (Mendoza), Mar del Plata (Buenos Aires), Castelli (Chaco), in addition to the governors of Mendoza, Santa Fe, Chaco, San Luis, among others, have also now added their endorsement of the initiative. Moreno, a city located 24 Km. to the west of Buenos Aires, has now joined. There are more than 435 thousand inhabitants, and the city is preparing to celebrate the arrival of the base team for the World March in Argentina by holding a Festival in the main square. A Park of Study and Reflection of the Humanist Movement and of Silo’s Message is located in one of its neighborhoods, La Reja. There, the mayor recorded a video announcing his participation in the global initiative.
“The only way to move forward is to become more and more committed, to find ourselves finally in Being, in spirituality, to find a brother who we have at our side, to find within ourselves a place to grow and become stronger”, reiterated Arregui. “The support of the city of Moreno and of the community for this March, so that we meet here on December 27 and so that we meet on January 2 in Punta de Vacas, in Mendoza, in order to be able to celebrate and prepare to work very hard in the fight against violence and for world peace”.
