Through the initiative of the Governor of the State of Miranda, Venezuela, near the town of Los Salias, a wood of trees was planted to mark the World March for Peace and Nonviolence. It is hoped to be the first of many such woods that will be planted in the future. In October and the following months other plantings will be done.
The planting of the trees was carried out in an action in which the town authorities, the Governor, college students, members of different NGOs and religious representatives among others all took part. The gathering took place with a joyful and festive climate in which there was no lack of speeches and music.
This action together with many others that will happen in different countries for the March in the field of ecology, will serve to offset the CO2 that the WM Base Team will generate as a result of their journey around the world.
